FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Before choosing a winter garden.
What’s the difference between a winter garden and a conservatory?
Both create a bright, sheltered space for relaxing and growing plants. Gutroof ranges differ in design, installation type, glazing and roof material. Wall-mounted models include SOHO, ASTON, BELGRAVIA FRAME and BELGRAVIA PURO, while freestanding options include BROADWAY and TRIBECA.
What sizes are Gutroof winter gardens available in?
Available sizes vary by range. SOHO comes in 364 × 290, 434 × 290 and 505 × 290 cm. ASTON comes in 431 × 305 and 552 × 305 cm, and BROADWAY comes in 436 × 295 and 436 × 436 cm. BELGRAVIA FRAME and BELGRAVIA PURO are available in 3 × 3, 3 × 4 and 4 × 4 m. Consider your patio size, how you plan to use the space and what your site can accommodate.
What materials are Gutroof winter gardens and conservatories made from?
The frames are primarily aluminium, while the wall and roof materials vary by range. PC + Glass models combine glass walls with a multiwall polycarbonate roof. Solid PC + Glass models have glass walls and a solid polycarbonate roof. BELGRAVIA FRAME uses sliding glass panels in aluminium frames, while BELGRAVIA PURO has frameless glazing for an open, airy look.
Can I use a Gutroof winter garden all year round?
A winter garden shelters your patio from rain, wind and changing weather, so you can use it for more of the year. Some models lack the heating and insulation needed for year-round use as living space. Winter use depends on the design, roof and wall materials, installation and local weather conditions.
Can winter gardens withstand wind and snow?
Wind and snow ratings vary by range. For example, TRIBECA is rated for winds of up to 110 km/h and snow loads of up to 90 kg/m². BROADWAY is rated for up to 100 km/h and 60 kg/m² respectively. ASTON can support loads of up to 100 kg/m², while SOHO can support up to 50 kg/m². Check the specifications of your chosen model and consider conditions at the installation site.
How can I ventilate a winter garden?
Ventilation varies by design. TRIBECA has four opening windows or vents, and BROADWAY has two tilt windows. SOHO has two windows, while ASTON can be ventilated by opening its sliding panels. The glass panels on BELGRAVIA FRAME and BELGRAVIA PURO slide open to let air in.
Should I choose a wall-mounted or a freestanding winter garden?
A wall-mounted model works well if you want to extend your home or cover an existing patio. Options include SOHO, ASTON, BELGRAVIA FRAME and BELGRAVIA PURO. A freestanding model, such as BROADWAY or TRIBECA, can sit away from the building, for example further into the garden. Consider how much space you have, how you want to use it and how the base has been prepared.
